I have an oak tree alongisde my back fence. I would like to grow some plants for colour and decoration and also cover the fence (3m). What garden plants grow well under an oak tree? Will a Lawsons cypress grow there well there?

In my opinion a lawson Cypress will very soon ruin your oak tree. You sound as if you have space? In my previous garden we had Hops running along the fence behind our oak trees. Looked lovely but you need space for a good show
