Can you tell me what plant this is please? It drops leaves in winter, but has small purple coloured leaves that resemble small beech leaves, as yet there are no flowers, and I don't know if it will get any as i only moved in to this house in december, it sits in a corner protected by the house. doesn't get much sun there.

It could be a Cotinus (Smoke Bush) but as Hijuju says a picture would make identification easier.
