I decided to grow lots of herbs for my friends, unfortunately nearly all the basil babies are turning yellow and some are withering. Whatever have I done wrong?

That was quick! Thankyou so much, I'm glad it's not all my fault. It has been really cold lately, infact they had snow over in Wales yesterday! ( I also have a plastic greenhouse!) I'll just plant some more then. Thanks again.

We just started a pot of basil off but it is sitting on our kitchen windowsill and will stay there. Even in a greenhouse it isn't warm enough right now at night.

Yours is further along than mine! But the weather is set to warm up next week, so those tomato and basil salads will soon be on the table. Sow lots more and then when they are mature, blend them with olive oil and freeze them in ice cube trays for basil all winter. Just pop them onto pasta for the last minute, as you dish up.

I don't think you have done anything wrong ... blame the weather! Temperatures have been so low - even here in so-called "sunny" Spain - that even my basil in a plastic greenhouse is not behaving as it should. I'm going to plant more!
