What are the best growing conditions
By Campervan

Can anyone help, please. My plant is about 4 years old, albeit we moved and transplanted it 2.5 years ago. On sandy soil, sunny spot. Very sheltered position, facing south at bottom of bank, so protected from N and NE conditions, but can be a frost pocket. It does not look happy and is only about 2 feet tall, yellowing leaves, all berries have gone. Help requested.

Many thanks, Bamboo. I'll try to make the well drained soil ev en more damp. Have plenty of Growmore, so will see what that does as well.
Again thanks for your trouble.

Don't forget the compost/manure - that will improve the water retention properties of the soil and increase its fertility.

It likes fertile, "well drained but fairly moist" (how irritating that expression is, difficult to achieve both those) soil - suggest you dig in a good amount of well rotted compost around the roots, plus a handful or two of Growmore for instant effect, to improve the conditions for it. You may need to water during drier spells too, as your soil is light and sandy.
