i am a complete gardening novice, having just moved from a flat to a house, i would love to plant some flowers in pots for my garden, they would be placed in an area which does not get much sun but is quite open to the wind, is there anything that would be good for this particular area?

something that comes back next year would be good, we are having a couple of small troughs (40cm long) as well as a couple of pots so maybe a mixture?

Summer bedding which copes well with shady conditions - fuchsia, begonia, impatiens (busy lizzy), pansy, lobelia. Evergreen shrubs which will be fine in a pot that look good all year and tolerate shade - Pieris (smaller varieties and acidic soil, so use ericaceous compost) and Camellia (same soil).
