Yes good old buddlias are very tough although they say prune it in the spring quite hard , then you will find it will grow quite fast, but as Beattie says it's too cold just now. I have four different coloured ones, especially for the butterflies and they look pretty dormant at the mo.

Usual regime for a buddleia davidii is to cut it back hard to within 2 inches of the previous year's growth in late March every year. If you cut yours in autumn last year, and new growth appeared, we had a very, very cold winter, so the plant may have been more vulnerable than usual to the cold. They are though, as everyone says, tough old plants, so give it some time yet.

« the frost has turned all my young shoots on my pieris brown.what can i do
I've found Buddlias to be indestructible - when I had them I'd cut them off about 6" from the ground and still they came back. Had to move house to get rid of the wretched things. I'll never have another!
I'm sure yours will regrow - give it a few more weeks, it's too cold to grow now.
