I have just bought a pixie root victoria plum tree and would like to know how I can find out how old it is? It is about 4 feet tall with a trunk diameter of 1.5 inches.

has it got many branches or is it a stem with a few small shoots sticking out?

It has got many branches. It looks like a real mini tree.

3-4 years maybe, no branches usually means a 'maiden' i think but yours is a bit older (or is it one of the patio type which stay small all their lives?)

Thanks, It does stay small as it is a pixie root, the smallest of the dwarf varieties.

Hi Beebop, I'm not sure where you are in the country but if you keep it in a pot it will need watering regularly and i'd try to keep it on the shady side to stop it drying out, not full shade, a friend in Sussex had to plant hers in the border in the end as she couldn't get enough water into them

Thank you. so I'll assume it's 3-4 years then.

How do I say thanks?
