Whats in a name ? Can anyone help please.Bought these plants last year at a plant fair labelled as Polygonatum campanulatum with Primula.

The photo shows the obvious Primula but it is surrounded by the Polygonatum . It has yet to flower have been told its known as lesser knotweed ..and has also been re - classified as Persicaria .

Is anyone familiar with this plant and what can I expect from it ? Many thanks .

It grows to about 3 feet up and as much across. It has shell pink flowers from mid June to September. It can be a bit spreaduing if it likes your soil. However, it is easy to remove any unwanted bits.

Thanks Owdboggy , yes does appear to be spreading well and that sort of height and spread would be ideal. Was a bit concerned to hear the term knotweed used for it !

Thanks SBG not heard that name but enabled me to search and see flowers as Owdboggy descibed , very much like a Persicaria . Have another name for it now collecting quite few , thanks again .
