the top one looks like a bean, the second weigela but not sure about the bottom one

thanks louise1 but not so sure about the lilac id. Although i do grow all of these 3, the lilac shape is odd.

do you think that the new leaves are a bit dark for lilac ?

someone else has said it could be a lilac, but it had them baffled too,i have another one in back garden which has just started flowering, but totally different at bottom. Thank you all once again.

I agree with Sbg. I'd say it was lilac, too, possibly been cut hard back if not suckers??

oh..... i did cut it right down, but it looked dead... garden was neglected and everything had a layer of weeds on them. I wasnt a member here when i did it, so from now on i will ask before i take such drastic action

dont worry all you have done is coppiced it. these are from the root stock. in time they will flower and they will be the plain pale lilac single one.

1 is a runner bean
2 is wiegelia a lovely shrub
3 looks like lilac [suckering from old roots or nearby tree?]
