This is the first time I have planted tulips and they were a great success, mostly in pots. Do I have to dig them up or can I just put bedding plants over the top and leave the bulbs for next year?

Thanks Beattie and Moon grower, I will leave them be then and look forward to the same display next year.

Some people swear by digging them up, but I never have and I'd think that in Surrey you'd be quite safe to leave them in. I was passing my old house the other day where we lived for nearly 20 years (we moved out a couple of years ago) and the tulips that were there when we moved in were still flourishing in the beds. :-) Marvellous! I don't feed them specially, just let them pick up what they want of the slow release fertiliser I add to the beds most years, if I remember.
