just had a cordyline austris about 4ft the ends of the leaves were brown and the centre has been cut out leaving a white stump looks like the new groath has been cut off. do you think it will grow ?

Sounds like the growing tip has been removed, but it might recover, or you can chop the stem down by half and see if it forces growth from the base. Otherwise, discard.
