Help pruning a new clematis 'Comtesse de Bouchard' please

Let it grow on this year - needs a pot preferably 2 feet deep, clematis like a cool root run, so the pot should be shaded, if possible, though the plant likes sun. this is one of those that needs pruning every winter by mid to end of February at the latest, when you cut it down to about 8 inches, or to two buds from the base.

Thanks bamboo :) t does seem too young to cut back. Actually I got this in the supermarket to save money as I have already spent a lot this year but since it probably won't flower till next year it was probably a bit of a false economy!

I have used John Innes and multi-purpose mixed together with grit in the end though I must say the John Innes seems to set like concrete when watered, though perhaps I am just not used to it.

The pot will be shaded and the top in the sun so the conditions will be good in that way. I chose this one specifically to grow in a pot near my door. I must say though that the pictures of this clematis online are a much paler shade of pink than is shown on the packet, I hate it when this is done to attract you into buying something.

Hmm, buyer beware when it comes to highly coloured pics! You should get blooms this year though without any trouble - doesn't start till later on, mid to late June if you're lucky, July if not, so you'll be able to tell if you like the flowers or not - description in my book is "satiny rose with cream stamens", if that's any help, lol
