Grass ID please. Grows lovely in winter this one, gets to look a bit rugged in the summer, thank you.

I thought Japanese Rush which is an Acorus.

Thing is, Botanic, at this time of year, it tends to have a distinct hollow in the middle, with all the growth fanshaped around it, so I'm not really sure that its Acorus.

could it be a type of wheat grass?

It looks like an Acorus to me, too--probably A. gramineus 'Ogon'. Is it possible that the winter was mild enough to avoid the "hollow center" effect?

Thank you for all your comments. I looked up the photos of Acorus on GoY but they don't resemble my plant. it doesn't ever grow tall or have a fan shape to its growth, in fact it is always rather flat & just looks like an ordinary clump of grass except that it's golden( not variegated), with soft droopy habit. It does however often have a bare, hollow centre, tho' not at present, so perhaps Tugbret is right with his ID. I will make a note of this name & see if I can find a specimen to compare mine with. Thanks for trying for me. I'm quite pleased with it as it looks nice & bright in the winter.

This reminds me of Acorus, except that it's not showing the typical, fan shaped arrangement in the middle. I'm still looking, but so far I've come up blank - its unusual because its short and isn't flopping over, remaining quite upright.
