Hi, I have just notices small spore type growths on our acers and bay tree which are all in pots, the spores when you brush them are like coten wool and are a bit stringy...any ideas how to remove?

Thanks!

Could be powdery mildew which apparently only appears on young leaves because it can't penetrate old leaves. It thrives in dry conditions so keep plants well watered and spray fungicide on the young leaves. I got this out of my Alan Titchmarsh book! It was the only thing that sounded like your problem, (which I also have), among many others this year. However I am new to gardening so not very experienced myself.
