im not sure i understand realy . hollow ? is it cement as it could of bean something hollow cemented over or something that has now rotted. any chance of a photo please .if you want it flat as a fresh start your going to have to dig the path up so i would do an investigative hole right next to the hollow part.i dont suppose your near any underground mines or caves are you ? its just such a strange question without seeing the problem.
