do you cut back pinks in the spring

Answers

I have an old shallow sink slowly being taken over by an old clove scented pink. I dead head the flowers as they die off and give it a shot of miraclgro every so often, when it looks as if it is flagging. So it is tidied up at the end of the season. Encouraged in the spring.....other than that nothing too much apart from enjoying the perfume.

Pinks are making their new flower buds at the end of the stems in spring, if you cut it back now it will not flower this year. Cut it back after flowering, if it needs it.

i agree with bulbaholic , by all means take the heads of once they have finished flowering , this will encourage more growth.
If you go through my pictures and come to a picture of a white stone sink you will see what mine look like.
I keep mine trimmed down until new growth appears then leave it until after its bloomed and the flowers are dying then i take the flowers of once they have died
