Re: news of Gattina - I had a PM from her last Autumn (September) which sadly suggested that the Italian property might be getting too hard to manage because of health problems etc. and that with those concerns she might not be able to post much on this site in the near future.

I am only commenting this "publicly" because members are asking, and from her message the goodwill was certainly there, it was just that as we all know, sometimes other circs. and events overtake us at least temporarily (says I, ruefully!)

Monjardinlra, I had a similar PM from her In January. I did reply and she gave me her email address. Unfortunately I haven't emailed her as yet. When I do, I will mention that folks are asking about her and let you all know what she says if she wants me too that is, but knowing Jan I'm sure she'd like me to convey her thoughts to you all.

Jan and I spent a lot of time writing to each other about making wines and liqueurs. She gave me some wonderful recipes for Italian liqueurs like Limoncello, Nocino and preserves that she'd learned to make in Italy, and I sent her recipes for elderberry port, mead, etc

I really miss her long enthusiastic correspondence, so when I have time to sit down and write to her, I will.
