brown cordyline, please help!

Hello, a neighbour was going to throw away a cordyline and we have adopted it. We love it and have had it for 6 weeks. However all the leaves are going brown and droopy, is it dying? Is there any way we can save it?

Thank you for responding. All the leaves are going brown, I have uploaded a photo now? What do you think? Will it revive? Is there anything I can do to save it?

A tree this size would need a LOT of water (I mean a LOT) if it has just been transplanted. I believe that you have had a spell of hot, dry weather and this will not have helped. Try digging a shallow trench round the tree and keep filling this with water.

Thank you, do you think it will recover?

I try not to stick my head in the noose, Dirtgirl, at least not too often ;-)

Hard to tell at this point. It depends on how many roots it came with, and how long it was out of the ground before planting. I would cut off the oldest half of the leaves--the ones at the bottom--and use a root stimulator, like seaweed extract, in one of the waterings. Good luck!

Are all the leaves drooping and going brown? normally the leaves at the bottom eventually die off anyway, i peel them off, the top ones will continue to grow and eventually go brown and droop this will continue during it's life cycle, this forms the trunk of the cordyline
