During a recent storm, a large branch from a 35 year old Blue Cedar fell across the lawn leaving a large gaping hole in the side of the tree. Luckily nothing was damaged. Any suggestions as to what we should paint this to prevent rot?

By now the tree may well have 'healed' over, their sap is a natural antiseptic for the plant. the painting with something like 'arbrex' [think that's its name] should have been done immediately .
