One way is to apply a 'weed killer - follow instructions - applying about 4 days after mowing and repeat after 6 weeks. Follow instructions as to when you first mow after application then mow often. It likes water and dislikes frequent mowing, and feed the lawn to promote grass growth(perhaps the first feed low in phosphorous until clover gone)

...but bear in mind that the bees love it and we should be helping them as much as possible. It will also make your grass grow greener, fixing nitrogen in the soil.
