I have spent hours digging out the 12/18" roots of the creeping buttercup. My question is...do the broken roots regrow as does the dandelion? while the ground was damp (clay soil) I could gently pull most of the roots out and I never realised the length they grow to!!! but obviously some were broken in the process. I assumed that because they spread by runners they would have a short root system as a Strawberry does. what a shock to find out the length of their roots.

As long as you get the growing tip out then they do not grow from broken roots like Dandelions etc. At least not in my excperience that is. They do spread like mad from runners from any where where there is a plant and they do seed all over the place too, but once the growing point is removed then that is it. (Creeping buttercup I am talking about).
