Iplanted 3 Rose of Shannon bushes in early summer last year...they had loads of buds that dropped of before they opened..it was a very hot summer, but I kept them well watered..could it be they were just to young to handle the stress? They were in sun until about 2pm...

Thanks, Bulbaholic..I found my plants, and they are a type of hibiscus, thanks,Alextb, and Derek...I think I'll just have to wait and see what happens this year..there are so many situations that can cause buds to drop unopened..one thing I did find out..the names Rose of Shannon and Rose of Sharon can apply to the same plant..I had lots of these in my old garden, but they were much happier there than here..thanks everyone....

Having looked on the web I cannot find a Rose of Shannon. Did you mean Rose of Sharon? This name can be applied to several different plants, Odaatpat, so I would suggest that you do your own web search on both names to find a picture of the plant that you are asking about.
