hi everyone
Has been a long time. My brother tells me that it is a good idea to put rhubarb below seed potatoes to help prevent minor diseases.
1.Has anyone else heard of this?
2.If so how to do it and did it work.

I've heard of it too - think its supposed to be efficacious because of the oxalic acid in the rhubarb, but all the 'evidence' is purely anecdotal. Won't do any harm if you want to do it - but you'll never know whether it made any difference!

Well, maybe you would know if you made a proper scientific study of it, and maybe not even then! : )

Do you mean whole stalks or just leaves? I'd rather have my rhubarb in a crumble actually...

You and me both… Also wouldn't have thought the rhubarb would be that far on at time of sowing potatoes.

Depends where you live and which variety you're growing, MG - I pulled and put in the freezer a few sticks in March this year.

Much prefer the rhubarb jam or crumble idea myself. And always like the first batch of rhubarb anyway . so will give that idea a miss and let my brother continue his experiment.
