Hi,
Can anyone identify this plant, photo 2 is what I am assuming is a flower, I have several clumps dotted around my new garden and would really like to know what it is before it blooms??
Thank you in advance :)

Arum maculatum....it's a lovely bulb that comes up in spring with really nice foliage then dies down again.
It is not, by a long chalk, a weed.

Thanks Badfish, I googled it and rather like it, it will certainly look good in my woodland glade, I also remember the Autumn berries looking good when I viewed the property :)

It can become a problem and therefor a weed as the corm goes down about 4-6" but it is a lovely plant in the right place.

Agree with Badfish - not a weed by any means!

I would not call any Arum a weed.

Native plant - only a weed if it's growing where you don't want it. In which case you move it to somewhere where you do want it. :o)

If you like it and it does well for you have a look at a garden version, Arum italicum maculatum - has the same flowers and berries but beautifully marked leaves, and I haven't found it invasive here but that might be because its growing under a conifer hedge...
