The species is Clematis montana. I don't know if the one in your picture has a cultivar name or not.

Brilliant thanks. I have 2 types of clematis in my garden
(both seemed to have finished blooming already!) . My next door neighbour has this one and it's in full bloom with hundreds of flowers on it, mine never have this many. I might look into replacing mine with some Clematis montana then. Thanks once again.

The earliest is C.alpina and its cultivars. Ours are now over and the C. montana just coming into its glory. Why 'replace'? You can grow both together as with some of ours.

Yes maybe so, although my present 2 don't produce even a tenth of the flowers of my neighbour's Clematis Montana.
