My Hellibore leaves are covered in "black" for the first time ever,what IS this?

Yep, that looks like the HBD to me.
Dig it out and bin/burn it, unless you really can't bear to part with it. It will never be healthy, and will be a source of infection to other hellebores nearby.
On the other hand, since the flowering season is over, you may find local GCs, nurseries or hardware stores with marked down plants - and you can never have too many hellebores!

The two most likely problems are Hellebore Leaf Spot if there are 5p sized dark blobs, or Hellebore Black Death, if the black is more like streaky lines and networks.
HLS is not a huge issue, if you cut off all the foliage the fresh growth will probably be fine, then repeat every February.
HBD is a worry, it kills plants and is spread by aphids so the advice is to dig out and burn any effected plants.
If you could post a photo that would help, or look for these conditions online.
