In my book it says no regular pruning required. I have one that is intruding into the space an old camellia occupies, and it needs to be curbed, and taken back before Duchess of Albany wanders into that area (clematis). In fact I might go out and size up the job now. Me or the garden help? If it is going where you don't want, or too big, take it back now or whenever.
