I have a self pollinating William pear tree, this is the second year. We had a small amount of blossom this year. Usually how long would it be before fruit appears

I believe pears take quite a long time to get mature enough to bear fruit though - longer than apples.

once the blossom falls you should see a swelling where the flowers were attached. the pear itself wont be ready to eat till late summer. they also grow up at first then the weight of the fruit pulls them over into what you'd consider a pear shape. my daughter said they grew upside down when she first saw them on her granddads tree.
