We have a leylandii in our garden and since I cut it back it seems to be dying from the bottom up .Any answers please.

Have you kept the hedge watered? Cutting is stressful for any plant. There is an aphid that causes browning on Cypress; did you notice any browning before pruning?

As NP says if you cut back beyond the green part you might as well cut off the dead branches.
