Just Google nematodes - there are organic suppliers, although I thought nematodes were organic as they are live creatures.

Nemaslug is the commonest brand, not sure if garden centres sell it or not - because its nematodes, there's a shelf life, so often you have to order online. Nematodes are just creatures, and various ones prey on various problems, so you can't get more organic than that, no chemicals at all.

I worry about using nematodes because its such a slow and horrible death for the slugs - takes several days, where pellets are much quicker. Sorry if this offends anybody.

There is nothing wrong with ones empathy or sympathy extending to other forms of life in this world.

Try putting them underneath something the slugs will hide under, like a bit of old planking or flat stones. The when they die they won't be a temptation for birds or dogs.

Ugh Cammomile, I couldn't do that either. I can't even bring myself to drop them in a bucket of salty water. pathetic or what? Perhaps a beer trap is the most humane - at least they drown happy...
