Starting medium is a mixture of peat and perlite. It is sold in bags of proper proportion in garden stores. The cutting will root in this for eight weeks, then take it out of this mixture and place it in a mixture of rich garden soil. Place that pot in a cold frame greenhouse and allow it to continue to grow there for one year. After that time period it will be hardened enough to be planted outdoors.

Take a six inch cutting from new stem growth. Cut just below a node for this is where the roots will appear. Dip the cut end in rooting hormone and place in a starting medium. Spray water on the medium making sure it is neither to wet or too dry and continually monitor this. Place the cutting in an area of good sunlight in a greenhouse. Then (If you you dont have the patience for this) go to the garden store and buy a potted azailia of your choice for azailia cuttings may take a year to adequately root for planting in the ground.
