Can ordinary Yew be used to make a topiary 'bun'. The dimensions I eventually want to achieve are 40 cm x 40cm, or 50cm x 50cm? Will it work at this sort of size? It is something I have never done before. (I'm also having a go at making small topiary out of yellow thyme). I want my tiny garden to have more winter form.

Is the lonicera evergreen, and is it suitable for semi-shade? And would ordinary box also be suitable for this size of topiary in semi-shade?

the lonicera certainly is evergreen and i think it doesnt mind shade. but you need to check that. not sure about box as personally i dont like it.

I've heard that one is good for hedging too. Will it be very slow?

yes, if you want as hedge in a hurry dont by this one, although it would look stunning in later years.

Yes you can. Box (Buxus sempevirons) is slow growing.
Many cypress and false cypress can be used too.

Thank you all.

Previous question
i suspect it might be too vigorous for this final size. There is the small hedging lonicera that would fit the bill as it is a smaller leaf than box.
