I have an inherited Sorbaria growing in my border about 8 ft high. I've heard these can be troublesome but up til now it's been well behaved, however I noticed recently that I have new shoots coming up through my lawn and alarm bells are starting to ring. Do I need to destroy this now before I have a real problem on my hands?

Its your choice really. They are well known for suckering as in nature they form thickets. Regular mowing will deal with the shoots in the lawn - whether you want to keep removing them from the border is up to you!
