growing wild??
It looks as if you've dug it up. I hope that's not illegal where you are. It is in the UK .

It looks like a Serracenia, a carnivorous, pitcher plant which is native to North America but is fairly hardy and would withstand most winters in the UK.

Hi, welcome to GoY, I would agree with Badfish an say Sarracenia, probably S purpurea, which is completely hardy, and as Seaburngirl says, if it was in uk, would be illegal to dig it up, but I don't know what the law on this is in Ireland, Derek.

I meant Sarracenia, my brain is definitely no longer functioning.

It would probably be illegal to plant it in the wild in the first place as it's non indigenous and therefore I would think it SHOULD be dug up !!!!!
Fantastic collection at the bottom of the rockery at RHS Wisley
