I have a camellia which appears to be healthy, with glossy dark green leaves, but shortly after opening out, many of them begin to go brown at the tip and eventually dry up altogether and fall off. The plant is in normal potting compost and in a sheltered SW facing corner. What is wrong?

Hi, welcome to GoY, as well as following Bamboo's advice, I would try repotting it into ericaceous compost, Cammelia's prefer an acid soil, Derek.

Watering well in summer is important, this is when next year's flower buds are formed.

Sounds like a water problem, too dry at the roots. Try increasing the frequency and quantity of water.
