Would anyone care to suggest what this clematis is, the picture was taken this afternoon?
It started flowering in May and the petals are very thick, like lemon peel. Obvious thoughts would be Clematis tangutica or C. orientalis and similar, but these all flower late summer/autumn.
Any thoughts, anyone?

According to the book Bill McKenzie will begin flowering in June. And that is definitely rampant.
