our beautiful cherry tree is losing leaves rapidly, but they also looked like they are being eaten , whilst on the tree _ please help with some advice _ thanks.

Looks like shot-hole, with is one symptom of bacterial canker with cherries and plums are prone to.
It gets a bit worse every year, and can slowly kill the tree over several years, but if you keep the tree well fed and watered it can often keep going.
You can't cure it as far as I know, and if it's in your neighbourhood you'll get it eventually on any other cherries you plant.

Looks like cherry trees are having a bad time in the UK judging by the frequency of questions referring to diseased or infested cherry trees.
