Rowan Tree without a single Berry.
My mystery tree http://www.growsonyou.com/question/show/241745
turned out to be a Rowan. I couldn't identify which var, except it has very green leaves, so not a hupehensis. It was covered in lovely blossoms in the spring, but it hasn't set a single berry. Does anyone know if there is a species of Rowan that requires a pollinator? It's looking very healthy, with loads of new growth. I've never come across a fruitless Rowan before! Thanks :( Karen

the flowers on mine have only just started to get ovary swell so it is possible that you may still get berries.

Ok ladies, I'll wait a bit. Just that the flower heads look all dry and shrivelled, and when we moved here in autumn there were no signs of any berries then either.

Were there any pollenating insects around at the time the rowan flowered Karen? Oh and S. hupehensis has green leaves.

hupehensis has glaucous leaves ...I have grown it for many years. As for the insects....I think so. I've never had this problem with a Rowan...they are usually so reliable. Very disappointing.
