Can you help? I have for 3 years tried to grow vegetables
but have a problem with the height of the plants. My spouts are over 4 feet tall, my potatoes are a similar height, all my plants show the same large and tall plants but the returns from these plant is very small. potatoes very small, sprouts, well useless, they "blow" and very rarely mature. What am I doing wrong?

What are you feeding them with, what sort of soil, how much watering? Sprouts can misbehave like that because they are not planted firmly enough. Root crops need more potassium and phosphorus than nitrogen so looking at that might help. Hope someone else can add more help.

how much shade/light are they in? shade will make plants grow taller as they 'reach' for the light.

This is a fascinating table showing nutrients of various types of chicken manure. Balanced fertliser it isn't! Who would have thought it made so much difference how the chickens are raised?
