i take it you mean eucalyptus mulch.
I know a lot of people where i live dont put mulch around their vegetables.
I have just been and googled the mulch you have bought and come up with a website in the USA and it is www.superiormulchproducts.com .
The only thing i can think of is that if you are not happy with what we tell you is get in touch with the above firm and ask them.
To be honest i have not heard of people putting mulch around their veggies neither.
I take it you want to keep your weeds down.

Perhaps it could be called a top dressing as the word 'mulch' seems to bring out the urge to vary in opinion on what should be done. Recently I have 'top dressed' about 10 different places in my garden, both in containers, and on the ground. In most cases there has been a visible improvement within a short time. I have grown veggies for many years in the past and dug compost from 2 heaps into the plot. We had 3 compost heaps. So that the soil was really much higher after a few years . I never felt any urge to 'mulch'. My veggies were nothing special. Weed seeds land on top of the 'mulch' anyway and grow there.

I've never seen the need to mulch/top dress my veggies but seeing as you have already bought it why ask, just go ahead and do it. Saying that, if it is a green mulch then you run the risk of slugs/snails etc. hiding in it!

Hijuju, i was told that it should help w/weeds, keeping moisture in & bugs out. Heck if it's not a good idea, i'm sure I can find another use for the mulch. I jst broke a few ribs & was having a hard time with tending to my garden & was looking for ways 2 help me with the weeding, watering & debugging. thank you all.

Like Ian we don't mulch/top dress our veg. even if the mulch isn't green it can still encourage slugs and the like. I think there are two very different schools when it comes to growing veg. those that keep the surrounding ground clean and free of weeds so there is no competition and those who practice permaculture and keep everything covered with cardboard and the like. At the end of the day it is your choice none of us, that I am aware of, is a professional veg. grower.
