Hello, Does anyone know what kind of tree this is and if the roots are supposed to be above ground? We've just purchased the house and at first we thought it was unearthed so the owner could take it with her, but it doesn't appear to have been moved and seems somewhat fixed but it's hard to tell. Anyway, after several weeks of green, all of a sudden the leaves are brown and I'm gutted as I love the little thing. Any thoughts?? Thanks in advance! - Sarah

What is your growing zone? Not sure but reminds me of a Banyan tree.

And where are you on the planet?

Are you referring to me Moon growe? My wife asks me that question all the time.

Another sideways photo! Plays havoc with my arthritic neck.

Nope I know where you are Loosestrife but Stickyfingers has given no indication of which continent they are on, much less which country! It is difficult to answer a question when you don't know where the questioner is...

Also a closer shot showing the leaves in more detail would be helpful - and do add your location to your profile.

I recind my shoot from the hip banyan tree guess. On closer inspection this is not a tree but vines which were trained to entwine upon each other and shaped to have a tree or bush like appearance. The plants around it are not tropical but those one would find in a zone 7 or below. Therefore this I will say it is a long neglected topiaried wisteria, variety unknowned to me.
