Our front garden is North facing and doesn't get any sun til quite late in the afternoon. Any suggestions for plants that like the shade. We may have stones put on the front as it's only a really small plot so I'd want something to grow and look lovely in containers.
Thank you.

Stevebuk, if you scroll down to the bottom of this page there is a black area with the letters A,B,C .....Z in white .
Click on "S" and a new screen will come up. The first column on this page has a heading " GoYpedia pages" . If you scroll down this column you come to "Shade Plants". Click on this and you should get the info.

Hellebores are good shade plants and some flower in winter. My one is evergreen, I'm not sure if all are though.

Perfect spot for quite a few things - Pieris forrestii, Pieris japonica varieties, Fatsia japonica, Camellia, Skimmia (all of the aforementioned like ericaceous or acidic compost/soil).
