Red currants great, black currants pathetic (my fault for not pruning last year) gooseberries best yet until the thrush got under the netting, potatoes lost half to slugs and blight, broad beans splendid, French beans just about OK, summer raspberries not worth the space. Tomatoes doing OK, garlic I would be ashamed to show you but at least it didn't die, beetroot - just a few plants, great leaves, no beetroot so far..

My Beetroots been the best yet , as well. Had 3 good 'pickings' . The last 3 years have always Set single seeds in seed container cells . And grown on in the Greenhouse until the plants are Strong and about 3 to 4 inches high .THEN I transplant into Garden .I saw this method on a Gardening programme Monty Donns and gave it a try with great success
