They would certainly not be happy in the same pot. Virginia creeper makes an extremely large plant so I do not think it would do in a pot no matter how large it is. As for the clematis it depends very much on variety. For example Clematis Montana varieties grow huge whereas a clematis such as Pixie would be very happy in a pot.
