Runner Beans
I am a little late in planting out my runner beans this year. My mum gave me a couple of dozen she'd planted in trays, but as I didn't get a chance to plant them last week, they have became very long and the stems have entwined themselves round eachother.
As I have separated them to plant them into the ground, some of the main stems have broken off at a height of about 12-16".
What I would like to know is will I get another main stem shooting again from one of the side shoots, or is that it - will it not grow any higher.
I would be grateful if someone could tell me so I still have time to sow some more beans to replace the broken plants.
Many thanks.

The broken ones won't re-grow as you described but I'm sure you still have time to plant a new crop. I planted some peas the other day (in modules on my window sill) and got shoots after just 24 hours!
Good luck with them.
