As said, people will have their favourites and mine is 'Compassion' a yellow-pink climber. I must say that a climbing rose or any rose as far as I am concerned is far better off in the ground than in a container.

You don't give enough detail regarding how it is to be grown, light conditions, what colour blooms you would prefer, etc.
In any case it's rather late in the season to buy roses as many garden centres, rose suppliers are out of stock or running low, so you won't have much choice of what's left. I'd wait until November and buy bare rooted plants which are not only cheaper but then you will have a big choice.

I'd wait now until next year and buy one in bloom (or at least in bud) - the number of incidences of plants being "mis-labelled" is growing and the wrong rose can be an expensive mistake.

Previous question
Hi Sharon,
Where do you want to plant the rose and what will it be climbing up? Do you have a preference for colour?
There are dozens (if not hundreds) of climbing roses and most people will have their favourites, but that doesn't make them the best for what you want!
Try looking at Peter Beales' website - classicroses.co.uk - it has a very useful filter that allows you to choose roses by all sorts of things from size and colour to perfume and thorniness.
