Hi, welcome to GoY, firstly, whereabouts in the world are you ?,
second question is have you definitely got an Amaryllis ? Iask this because a lot of sellers call Hippeastrum, Amaryllis, but they are 2 totally different plants, even coming from different continents, if it is Amaryllis, it is hardy down to 23 deg f minus 5 c, and if it's grown outside, should be grown in moderately fertile, well drained soil in full sun, and the foliage protected from frost, under glass, grow them in a loam based compost, John. Innes number 2, with added leaf mold and sharp sand is ideal, Derek.
