Should you dead head hydrangeas, the flowers have faded and I was wondering if dead heading will encourage more. I know you keep them on over winter and prune in early spring.

Unlikely to get more blooms now as the buds were formed last winter/spring. The point of leaving the dead heads over winter is to protect the new growth. Check out the RHS webpage on pruning hydrangeas.

I guess you are talking about paniculata varieties. No, deadheading now will not encourage more flowers. I'd love to do one of mine as they are a mess now but am restraining myself!
