If you only have 'dried' seed available then soak them over night in warm water. If they do not swell up then gently nick a portion of the skin and soak again before sowing.

Mind, it is a once got, never get rid of plant. It is one i spend a lot of time weeding out, especially if I do not get round to dead heading them. It does come in a lot of different colour combinations of blue, pink, red and white too.

But if you put plants out for sale at your garden gate it is a great seller!

Pity the only folks who pass our gate are either driving tractors too fast, cars too fast or ramblers who are heading for The Narrow Boat Inn.

Well, I hope to get to that point. So far nothing has appeared out of the soil. it would be great to rip them out of the flower bed. Stay tuned for updates.

Sow the seed as soon as they are ripe and the pods start 'popping', which will be about July in Scotland. They are quite easy to propagate.
