I have a Leucothoe axillaris Twisting Red, my friends admire it and have tried to find one at the garden centre, but have been unable to do so, Can cuttings be used to pot on, if so how and when would be the best time to do it

Derekm,
Thankyou, I may divide in the spring because it is in a tub and it has grown very well, so to divide could be to my advantage.

Leucothoe are shrubs therefore you won't be able to divide.

Hi Scottish, I'm pretty sure that this species is a suckering one, and the suckers can be divided, Derek.

Thanks Derek, I was unaware some of them were suckering. All the ones I grow are not. Or at least they haven't done so yet.
Apologies for misguiding you jackrussell :)

Thankyou for the interest, I feel it most probably is a suckering plant , as it already appears to be growing in 2 parts ,but was most deffinitely just the 1 part originally.

Hi, you're a bit late for cuttings, they should be taken as semi ripe cuttings in summer, you will need bottom heat for this, however you can grow from seed in spring, in a cold frame, or you can divide in spring, Derek.
